Professor Damià Barceló is Honorary Adjunct Professor at the Chemistry and Physics Department, University of Almeria, Spain, and retired Full Research Professor at IDAEA-CSIC, Barcelona. He has been awarded Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universities of Ioannina, Lleida, and Almeria, and has held honorary and distinguished professorships in China and India. He is a member of several international scientific advisory committees and has received prestigious awards including the Enzo Tiezzi Medal, the King Hamad Prize, and the Recipharm Environmental Award. With over 1,500 publications, more than 172,000 citations, and an H-index up to 195, his research focuses on emerging contaminants, nanomaterials, microplastics, and sewage epidemiology using advanced mass spectrometry. He has supervised over 67 PhD students and serves as editor or co-editor of multiple leading book series and journals in environmental chemistry, including Earth: Environmental Sustainability, Comprehensive Analytical Chemistry, and The Handbook of Environmental Chemistry.
