Prof. Jianmin Chen

Fudan University
China

Dr. Jianmin Chen, trained as a chemist, received his M.S. and Ph.D. from Fudan University and began his career there studying superacid catalysis. His research evolved to focus on atmospheric heterogeneous reactions, green processes, and purification of bioactive compounds. He has significantly contributed to understanding sulfur-containing atmospheric compounds (CS₂, COS, SO₂) and their transformations. Over the past two decades, Dr. Chen has led pioneering research in atmospheric chemistry in China, particularly on haze formation, biomass burning, and air pollution control. His group developed advanced aerosol instruments and published over 460 papers with 12,200+ citations. He is currently Executive Dean at Fudan University’s Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and Director of LAP3. Dr. Chen collaborates globally with top institutions and serves as Associate Editor for leading journals. He has received numerous honors, including the Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher award, and is recognized for shaping air quality policy in China.
